In 2022 Jake wrote, produced, designed, and co-directed The Nordegg Incident alongside Madeline Hunter Smith (Producer/Actor) and Conrad Belau (Co-Director/Actor) as Sucker For Punishment’s first production. The Nordegg Incident is a inter-textual theatre piece about three Albertans who travel to the real town of Nordegg to attempt a ritual in the hopes to achieve fulfillment. They soon realize that their witchly ritual has consumed them too. Rose’s existential, true-but-not-real-crime piece that never actually happened, utilized projected footnotes, real world details, and featured actors breaking character to insinuate the cast losing their sanity— by standards for a production under a thousand dollar budget, the play was a hit.
